CLASSIC BLEND OF VEDIC KNOWLEDGE AND MODERN
TECHNOLOGY
Ayurveda the science of life, prevention and longevity is the
oldest and most holistic or comprehensive medical system
available. Treating disorders in plants is dealt within the
extensive work Brihitsamhita of Varahmihira as well as in Agni
Purana. There are number of other works such as Vrukshayurveda of
Surpala and Lokopkaram which have a great wealth of information of
treatment of plant disorders.
To quote Gunaratna “Just as the human body is subject to health
problems, plants too suffer from similar problems such as
displacement or dislocation of flower, fruit, leaves, bark and by
application of appropriate remedies prescribed in Vrukshayurveda
unnatural growth, deterioration, wounds, fractures etc. can be
cured in plants”.
Basic Concept of Ayurveda
The entire universe is made of five Mahabhootas or
great elements (that are not material in the usual sense of the
term and are types of energy) for identifying them they are
called.
1)Akaasa (Ether)
2)Vaayu (Air)
3)Tejas (Light)
4)Aap (Water)
5)Prithvi (Earth)
We have noted the co-relation between these five elements and
activities taking place in plants. These observations led to the
discovery of an integrated system for promoting and protecting
agriculture. These Panch Mahahutas (Five life forces) are activated
by using herbal extracts. This initiates various physical,
biochemical and microbiological processes and achieve balanced
growth of plant.
Activity of Herbal Extracts :
These Herbal extracts are made by several processes from herbs. It
appears that mostly plant alkaloids are the active ingredients.
Obviously mostly are natural derivates. It is difficult to
understand the actions of individual active constituents of the
herbal medicine. Scientific research is increasingly showing that
the active constituents of many herbs interact in complex ways to
produce the therapeutic effect of the remedy. As whole plants
contain hundreds if not thousands of different constituent
chemicals that interact in complex ways. Frequently, we simply do
not know in detail how a particular herb works even though its
medicinal benefit is well established.
By combining scientific research on herbs described in Ayurveda,
its active constituents, with keen observation and traditional
knowledge of the whole plant, we have developed a complete herbal
package for agriculture.
